Summer Day Camp at the Waldo County YMCA is for age 4 (by March 1, 2023) through grade 7. Each of the four camps we are offering in 2023 offers age-appropriate programming around a weekly theme.
CURIOSITY CAMP: Age 4 & 5 (must be 4 by March 1, 2023 and be potty-trained)
For our youngest campers’ first camp experience we offer this structured & creative camp focusing on building independence. Games, activities & crafts change weekly supporting our theme. Time is spent at the Y swimming in our pool, outside on our playground, and under our Pavilion. Field trips to local parks.

DISCOVERY CAMP: Completed grades K - 1
Get ready for guaranteed fun and discover what the Y can offer. This camp will break into smaller groups and fill them with a variety of creative activities, crafts and swimming. We encourage all campers to participate in team-building activities as well as those centered around our core values of Caring, Honesty, Respect & Responsibility.
EXPLORER CAMP: Completed grades 2 - 3
Our goal is to guide campers to embrace nature in a safe environment to explore and create memories for life. This group will venture on field trips, swimming and fun activities that pertain to the weekly themes.
ADVENTURE CAMP: Completed grades 4 - 7
We will travel around Belfast and utilize the surrounding schools as our home base. Our focus is on physical and mental team building games mixed with some healthy competition. Some of the many games we play are kickball, flag football & dodgeball. Campers will spend much of the day outside & swimming at the Y. Dress in or bring layers in case of weather.
Week 1: June 26 - 30 Opening Day
Campers reunite with old friends while making new friends via team building, trust games, and activities.
Week 2: July 5 - 7 Stars & Stripes
(3 day week only) Campers participate in patriotic games and activities to celebrate our Country. This three-day week of Wednesday, Thursday, Friday will be prorated.
Week 3: July 10 - 14 Game Show Week
Do you love a good game? Campers will learn and use skills to survive fun activities, games and complete a scavenger hunt.
Week 4: July 17 - 21 Superheroes All Around
Campers will test their superpowers. Train like a superhero and create your own superhero costume, powers, and names.
Week 5: July 24 - 28 Water World
It’s time to get soaked! Slip and slide through an awesome fun filled week. Summer is hot, but campers will stay cool with activities like water balloon games, water relays and much more...
Week 6: July 31 - Aug 4 World Wide of Sports
Each camp will enjoy a variety of races, games and healthy competition to encourage sportsmanship & teamwork.
Week 7: Aug 7- 11 Go Big or Go Home
This will be a competitive week with games and activities and older camps leading up to the infamous food challenge.
Week 8: Aug 14 - 18 Never Can Say Goodbye
The final week of camp-goodbye summer. Campers spend time brushing up on their talents for the show at the end of the week, along with the slideshow.
