The Natatorium will be closed from 8:30 am to 1:00 pm on Friday, March 6, 2015
as we host the Special Olympics Swim Meet at the WALDO COUNTY YMCA!!

Please consider joining us on the observation deck to celebrate and cheer on participants from Waldo and Knox Counties.
Athletes with be in the pool in the morning with an awards ceremony following in the gym.
Local Law Enforcement Agencies such as the Police, Coast Guard, and Game Wardens will be here to help make the day extra special!

The Waldo County YMCA has programs and activities for people of all ages and abilities. General group and specialty fitness classes are available as well as a wide selection of youth and adult sports programs. The facility includes The Tom & Sally Savage Pool Complex, an indoor walk/jog track, air-conditioned fitness center and wellness/aerobic classroom, gymnasium, teen room, and family friendly shower and changing facilities.

It is the policy of the Waldo County YMCA to provide quality programs to all. No one is ever turned away from the YMCA due to inability to pay. Financial Aid applications are available upon request.

AARP TAX AIDE

Free tax assistance will again be offered at the Waldo County YMCA, Monday and Tuesday mornings, February 2 through April 14. Appointments may be made after January 19, 2015 by calling the Y at 338-4598 or stopping by the front desk.

AARP Tax Aide volunteers receive IRS-sponsored training and assistance to e-file individual income tax returns for the elderly, low-to-moderate-income individuals and families, Veterans, and taxpayers with disabilities.

When you come for tax help, please bring:
• a copy of last year’s tax return
• official Social Security documents for all people on the return
• photo ID
• all tax documents such as W-2’s, 1099’s for interest, dividends, sale of stocks or property, Social Security statement
• any correspondence received from the IRS in the previous year
• checkbook for direct deposit of refund to bank account
• If married, both persons should come
• Please make separate appointments for more than one tax return

This program does not prepare returns for rental properties or for significant businesses. For any questions about whether you qualify for this program, please call the tax site coordinator Pat Snyder at 567-3137.

If no openings are available at the YMCA, Ms. Snyder has openings at other sites in Searsport and Stockton Springs.
