For those who are age 12
or older, membership to the Waldo County YMCA includes the opportunity
to have a complimentary one-time fitness room orientation. For
youth ages 12-14 the orientation is mandatory. This orientation
is designed to assist members with basic workouts and to familiarize
you with the equipment. Members must complete a Personal
Fitness Profile and returned to the Front Desk. You will
be contacted by phone to schedule an appointment. Your fitness orientation
will be approximately one hour long, 1-½ hours if two people
are oriented together. Come dressed in comfortable exercise attire.
Wear athletic shoes, no street shoes please. We will review your Personal
Fitness Profile to ensure that your workout is safe and effective. Your
orientation will not be a challenging workout for your body, but rather
a time for learning proper techniques and guidelines.
Introduction to Foundations of Yoga- MEMBER BENEFIT
Have you wanted to take a yoga class, but didn’t want to drop
in as a newbie? Join Polly Ireland, Registered Yoga Teacher for “Foundations
of Yoga”, a new 30-minute introduction to the basics of yoga class.
Learn how correct alignment is the key to feeling strong, flexible and
powerful, as well as comfortable in a pose.
Time: Tuesdays, 3:15 - 3:45 p.m.
Introduction to Fitness Class - MEMBER BENEFIT
— Never participated in a low impact aerobic fitness class and
don’t know what to expect? — Afraid of going to your first
class? — Ready for a fitness class but not sure of the basic moves?
If you answered yes to any of these questions, then call to schedule
an appointment for an introduction to fitness class session. This session
will provide a brief introduction to the basic terms and moves used
in some of our fitness classes. The session will include explanation
and short practice of some of the basic and most frequently used low
impact aerobic moves. This will apply to classes like Balanced Fitness,
Lifetime Fitness, Dynamic Definition and Forever Fit and some of these
moves are used in Zumba too!
