Our Before & After School Handbook

Our before and aftercare program is for children in grades K-5. We open at 7:00 a.m. and children are picked up by the bus at 8:30 and brought to school. At 3:30 the buses drop the kids back off for an afternoon of fun. Our program provides a safe, fun, nurturing place for kids to go after school. Our staff is well trained, fun and energetic. Kids in our after school program are offered a variety of things to do daily. An after school snack is provided as well. Our program is open until 6:00 p.m.

We also offer care on snow days, early release days, in-service days and school vacation weeks. If you require care during vacation weeks we must have your registration and payment two weeks prior to the vacation week. This allows time to staff properly and plan activities. Please call for more information.

Our preschool began in September of 2002 and is licensed by the State of Maine Department of Human Services and is therefore bound to comply with the licensing regulations of this agency. In this program we provide age appropriate activities within a structured and stimulating environment. Your child will be involved in a variety of activities such as discovery, gym time, art, science, writing, music and reading. We encourage self-reliance, self-respect, friendliness, cooperation, curiosity, and creativity.

Babysitting

We offer babysitting for parents who are in the building taking a class or using our fitness center. Our babysitting service is provided by a staff person and volunteers.

As a licensed facility, we are required to keep a certain staff-to-child ratio in order to provide safe and exceptional care for your child. We encourage everyone to stop by and meet the childcare staff. We are certain you will see what a wonderful place the YMCA can be for your child.
