In 2009, Sandi Roman recruited several of the
teens from the afterschool program and started a drama club. The teens
got together and came up with a name for the group. They call themselves,
“The Teen Scene Players.”
On Friday February 27, 2009, the Waldo County YMCA launched its first
theatrical production featuring the Teen Scene Players for the children
in aftercare. Now here we are 2010 and the Teen Scene Players are at it
again. A new year, new group of players, new scripts, but the same goal,
which is to give children who wouldn’t otherwise have an opportunity
to perform in a school production, the chance to shine in the spotlight,
but also, to just have fun.
The Teen Scene Players (TSP) meets Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2:30 -
3:15 p.m. to work on short scenes and monologues from serious teenage
issues to silly spins on classis nursery rhymes.
Performances are held every last Thursday of the month at 4:00 p.m. in
the community room and remain a popular choice for our afterschool childcare
kids. The performances are FREE and opened to anyone who would like to
see and support these talented teens.
TSP is offered FREE to all Teen Access members. See Sandi
Roman or Brandon Hurd to sign up.
