2013 Self-Defense Training

SENSIBLE SELF-DEFENSE and AWARENESS
for ADULT MEN & WOMEN

Join Mr. Jim Gallegos, 2nd Degree Black Belt, in a class that not only focuses how to keep an assailant away from you, but when an assailant grabs you how to free yourself. This is not a wrestling class and although students will be taught ground techniques, grappling with an assailant will not play a significant part of the class content.

Class will begin with muscle warm-ups followed by cardiovascular exercise. Posturing and executing self-defense techniques will be shown and performed.

Wear loose fitting clothing. Proper footwear is optional. Partners are encouraged to come and learn together, but individuals will also be partnered-up.

Although basic muscle strength is needed, the techniques performed will be directed to a person’s joints for the purpose of getting free from another person’s grasp, and not throwing an assailant to the ground.

Weapons may be discussed, but self-defense against an armed assailant will not be included in this class.

Day & Time: Fridays 10:15 – 11:15 am
Location: YMCA Wellness Room
Fee:
$60 Annual Members
$96 3-Month & Non-Members
